"Picture it, Sicily... I mean New York City."
Time: What does your watch say?
Place: Washington Square Park
Setting: Two benches, a large tree between them, sit centre stage. In the distance, silhouettes of other trees splash across a backdrop.
Four older women sit on the benches. You will come to learn that although these women are from very different backgrounds, they
share common bonds, which have to do not only with where they have been in life, but more importantly, where they are going. Come
meet La La Carmichael (A Negro cabaret singer who only reached semi-fame in the 20's & 30's...planning a comeback); Rose
O'Connor (A spinster from Upstate New York who moved to the city after a brief stint as a WAC in the service); Eva Reisch (New
York born and raised, married into high society, husband deceased, no children) and Gladys Feinberg (married, separated, husband in
a New Jersey rest home, two children, three grandchildren).
Enter the fifth lady… Anna Cinzano (Four children. Six grandchildren. Husband and four children are deceased, grandchildren have
moved away). She walks over to the bench, pulling a grocery cart behind her.
Anna's face lights up, she's excited about something.
Everyone focuses attention on her. You should too… get your copy at
